HOW TO REACH      

By air:- Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun is located near the state capital and is well connected to major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru.
Pantnagar Airport serves the Kumaon region and is closer to destinations like Nainital and Jim Corbett National Park.

By road:- Major railway stations include Dehradun , Haridwar and Kathgodam . They all are connected to major cities and ideal for pilgrims heading to Rishikesh and Char Dhaam.

By Road:- Regular bus services, including state-run and private buses, operate from Delhi, Chandigarh, and other neighboring states. The state is connected by national highways like NH 7 and NH 109. Major cities such as Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Nainital are easily reachable by car.

Once in Uttarakhand, local taxis, shared jeeps, and buses make it easy to navigate to various destinations.

    7. KAUSANI

Nestled at an altitude of about 1,890 meters, this picturesque town is surrounded by lush green valleys, dense pine forests, and serene tea gardens. Kausani is a haven for nature lovers, peace seekers, and photographers, offering stunning sunrises and sunsets over the majestic mountains. A few hours of trip is sufficient in this place, you can head back to Nainital , the same day.


    8. JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK



    Jim Corbett National Park, located in Uttarakhand, is India’s oldest and one of its most renowned wildlife sanctuaries. Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park and later renamed after the legendary hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett, it spans over 1,300 square kilometers of diverse landscapes, including dense forests, grasslands, and riverine belts. The park is part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve and is globally acclaimed for its thriving population of Bengal tigers. Home to a rich variety of wildlife, including elephants, leopards, crocodiles, and over 600 species of birds, Jim Corbett offers thrilling safari experiences. Its just 2 hours drive from Nainital.


    9. THE CHAR DHAAM


    The Char Dham, a revered pilgrimage circuit in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, holds immense spiritual significance in Hinduism. Comprising four sacred shrines—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—it is considered a journey of ultimate spiritual fulfillment. Each site is uniquely associated with divine deities and rivers: Yamunotri is dedicated to the goddess Yamuna, Gangotri to the goddess Ganga, Kedarnath to Lord Shiva, and Badrinath to Lord Vishnu.



    BEST TIME TO VISIT UTTRAKHAND     

    You can visit in Summers when the ideal temperatures are between 20-30 degrees and can be perfect for trekking, camping and sightseeing. Basically from march to June.

    Autumn which is October to November can also be ideal time to visit to do trekking, wildlife safaris, and cultural exploration. The temperature is between 10-25 degrees.

    Avoid going during Monsoons as it is a bit dangerous that time due to landslides and heavy floods.




    FOOD TO TRY HERE:

    Uttarakhand’s cuisine, known as "Pahadi" food, is a delightful blend of simplicity and rich flavors. Must-try dishes include Kafuli, a nutritious spinach and fenugreek curry, and Phaanu, a protein-rich lentil dish, both perfect with steamed rice. Staples like Chainsoo (a roasted black gram curry) and Jholi (a tangy yogurt-based curry) are hearty and satisfying. Street food enthusiasts will enjoy Aloo Ke Gutke (spiced stir-fried potatoes). Sweet treats like Singori, a khoya delicacy wrapped in maalu leaves, and Bal Mithai, a fudge-like sweet coated with sugar balls, offer a taste of Uttarakhand’s traditional desserts. For bread lovers, Mandua Ki Roti, a millet flatbread, is a wholesome choice, while rice dishes like Bhatt Ki Churkani (black soybean curry) and Jhangora Kheer (a sweet millet pudding) are must try.

    Also that pahaado ki maggie is a must try. You will get all varieties of maggie in hilly areas which is piping hot. Combo it with Masala Chai.
