Agra, a city steeped in history and romance, sits proudly on the banks of the Yamuna River in northern India, in state of Uttar Pradesh. HOW TO REACH HERE:-         


By airAgra’s Kheria Airport: Agra has a small domestic airport, Kheria Airport (AGR), with limited flights from cities like Delhi and Jaipur. However, more frequent flights are available to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi, which is about 220 km from Agra.

By Rail- Agra is a major stop on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Chennai railway routes, with trains arriving frequently from all major cities. Key stations in Agra are Agra Cantt (AGC), Agra Fort (AF), and Raja ki Mandi (RKM). Shatabdi Express , Taj Express are some of trains operating between delhi and Agra.

By Road- From Delhi, agra is 3-4 hours drive via Yamuna expressway. From Jaipur, Agra is 45 hours drive via NH21 highway. Buses run regularly to Agra from Delhi, Jaipur, and other nearby cities. State-run and private buses, including luxury coaches, are available, with stops at the ISBT (Idgah Bus Stand) in Agra.

1. TAJ MAHAL

3. Itmad-ud-Daulah's Tomb( Baby Taj)



Often called the "Baby Taj," this mausoleum was built by Nur Jahan for her father. It’s known for intricate marble work and is said to be a draft of the Taj Mahal.



4.FATEHPUR SIKRI



Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located near Agra, is a fascinating historic city built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in the late 16th century. Originally envisioned as the capital of his empire, Fatehpur Sikri is known for its impressive red sandstone architecture, blending Islamic, Hindu, and Persian influences. Key attractions include the grand Buland Darwaza (Gate of Victory), the Jama Masjid, and the beautiful white marble tomb of Salim Chishti, a revered Sufi saint.



5. AKBAR'S TOMB



This is the resting place of the great Mughal Emperor Akbar. It’s a grand structure with beautiful Mughal architecture, built by Akbar himself.  Akbar's Tomb, located in Sikandra near Agra, is the final resting place of the great Mughal Emperor Akbar. Built during Akbar’s own lifetime and completed by his son Jahangir, this impressive mausoleum is a striking blend of Mughal and Hindu architectural styles, symbolizing Akbar's inclusive philosophy. Surrounded by lush gardens and adorned with intricate marble inlays and geometric designs, the red sandstone tomb complex reflects the grandeur of the Mughal era.



6. JAMA MASJID



One of the largest mosques in India, built by Shah Jahan in honor of his daughter, Jahanara Begum. It’s located close to Agra Fort and has intricate Persian-style mosaics and designs. Being close to agra fort, it can easily be seen and the persian style architecture can be easily visible as well.Jama Masjid, a majestic mosque in Agra, is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture and one of the largest mosques in India. Built in 1648 by Emperor Shah Jahan in honor of his beloved daughter, Jahanara Begum, the mosque is celebrated for its distinctive red sandstone and marble design. Its grand courtyard, domes, and intricate Persian-style mosaic tiles create a serene and awe-inspiring atmosphere.




SHOPPING IN SADAR BAZAR AND KINARI BAZAR    



Sadar Bazaar and Kinari Bazaar are two of Agra’s most vibrant and bustling markets, each offering a unique shopping experience. Sadar Bazaar, located near Agra Cantt, is famous for its leather goods, handicrafts, and street food, providing a lively atmosphere and a mix of traditional and modern shops. Kinari Bazaar, situated close to the Jama Masjid, is known for its colorful lanes packed with shops selling jewelry, textiles, bridal wear, and traditional Indian attire.




MUST- TRY FOOD IN AGRA      

Agra offers a rich culinary scene with a blend of Mughlai flavors, North Indian spices, and unique local treats.  Petha, Agra is famous for its petha, a soft and sweet candy made from ash gourd, flavored with rose water, saffron. Reflecting the city’s Mughal heritage, Mughlai dishes like kebabs, biryani, and korma are a must-try. The rich, aromatic gravies and spiced meats are often served with naan or roomali roti.
Shahi Tukda is made from deep-fried bread soaked in thickened milk and flavored with saffron.



BEST TIME TO VISIT AGRA       

The best time to visit Agra is during the winter months from October to March. During this period, the weather is cooler and more comfortable for sightseeing, with temperatures ranging from 8°C to 25°C (46°F to 77°F).
